Solar Light Kit Usage

Q: What exactly is in the solar light kit?

A: The solar kit contains a solar panel, 2 or 3 lights depending on the model, and cables for each light, as well as adapters to charge your solar lights and mobile phones.

 

Q: How can the solar light kits be used?

A: The solar lights can be used as hand-held flashlights, hung from the ceiling to light the entire room or placed on a table to help you see when you are walking, sitting or standing (i.e., walking in the dark, ironing, reading, sewing, etc.).

 

Q: Can the solar panel charge a mobile telephone?

A: Yes! The solar battery can charge all types of mobile phones. Mobile phones have to be connected to the battery in order to charge and can only be charged during the day when the panel has access to sunlight. You must attach the mobile phone directly to the solar kit for it to charge properly.

 

Q: My family doesn’t know how to use or install electronic equipment. How will they know how to charge and use the solar light kit?

A: No additional tools are needed to charge or use the T2 and T3 solar light kits. When your family picks up the solar light kit at the Sogexpress branch, Sogexpress staff will open the box, take the solar parts out of the box and show your family how to charge and use the lights. Sogexpress staff will also explain each part of the warranty card to your family.

 

Q: How many years does the battery last?

A: The solar battery is extremely durable and usually lasts 5 years.

 

Q: Where can we get a new battery once this one is totally empty?

A: The solar lights are not designed to be taken apart and no extra batteries will be available for sale in Haiti. However, if the battery stops working within the two year warranty period, bring the whole solar light kit, the receipt and the warranty card to the nearest Sogexpress branch so Sogexpress staff can exchange the kit at no cost to you or your family.

 

Q: How many years do the bulbs last?

A: The LED bulbs are extremely durable and can last up to 10 years without needing to be replaced. (or maybe not mention 10 years but say should last the entire life of the battery without needing to be replaced)

 

Q: How many hours does it take to charge the battery? Once the battery is charged, how long can I use my lights before I must recharge?

A: For the best results, charge the solar light kit by connecting the lights to the solar panel with the black cord. The panel should be in a safe, clean place in direct sunlight with no shadows and the lights should be turned off and should not be in direct sunlight themselves. It is possible to charge a mobile phone and a solar light at the same time.

Q: Can you charge the solar battery when it’s cloudy out?

A: Yes, you can, but when it’s cloudy, the battery will charge much more slowly.

 

Q: Can you charge other products with the solar light kits?

A: It is not possible to charge other products with the T2 and T3 solar light kits.. You will damage the battery (and void your warranty) if you try to charge other products with the kit.

Payment and Delivery Processes

Q: What are the available solar light kits I can order and how much do they cost?

A:. Sogexpress has selected two high quality, top of the line solar light kits exclusively for the Haitian diaspora to order for their families in Haiti. The T-Lite 2 costs US$140 and the T-Lite 3 costs US$180.

 

Q: How do I order and pay for the solar light kits?

A: There are four simple steps to ordering and paying for these solar light kits.

 

  1. Choose the solar light kit you want from the ORDER NOW page.
  2. Place the order by filling out the form on the ORDER NOW page.
    1. Enter your contact information
    2. Enter the contact information of the receiver in Haiti (Complete Name + Address + Phone Number)
    3. Click on “Submit Order”
    1. You will see your Sogexpress order ID number—This Sogexpress order ID number is very important to complete the payment at any Western Union location— You must have this order number when you pay for your purchase so Record it!
  1. Bring this order ID number with you to any Western Union location within 5 working days of placing the order:
    1. Fill out the payment form and provide the Western Union agent with the following required information: Company Name: SOGEXPRESS LAMPES SOLAIRES or Code City: SOGEXPRESSLAMPESHT HT and Account Number: your Sogexpress order ID number
    2. Pay for the solar light kit
    3. Pay the one time $10 Western Union fee
  2. Get a receipt from the Western Union agent that:
    1. Itemizes the payment and
    2. Includes a Money Transfer Control Number, which helps you to follow up with Western Union if necessary—keep this receipt!

 

Q: I don’t know my family’s exact address

A: That is okay! Type in your family’s town and make sure to type in all of their phone numbers on the ORDER NOW page. When Sogexpress receives the order in Haiti, staff will call your family to arrange delivery and determine the nearest Sogexpress pick up location.

 

Q: How much time do I have to pay for the order at Western Union?

A: After you place the solar light kit order on the ORDER NOW page and receive your Sogexpress order number, you have 5 working days to pay for the order at any Western Union.

 

Q: Can I order the solar light kits at Western Union instead?

A: The only place to order the T2 and T3 solar light kits is on this website. Click here to order a solar light kit for your family in Haiti.

 

Q: What happens if I lose my Sogexpress order ID number and/or my Western Union receipt?

A: Call Sogexpress at 509-3740-4253 and they will retrieve your order number for you. Or send an email to commercial@sogexpresshaiti.com.

 

Q: How long will it take for my family to receive the solar light kit?

A: 24 hours after you pay for the solar light kit at Western Union, Sogexpress will call your family in Haiti to schedule a time for pick up. If your family lives in Port-au-Prince, the solar light kit will be ready up to 3 working days after Sogexpress calls them. And if your family lives in the provinces, the solar light kit will be ready within 5 working days of the Sogexpress call. Remind your family to answer their phone calls!

 

Q: How do I know that my family received the solar light kit?

A: Remind your family in Haiti to call you when they receive their solar light kit from the Sogexpress branch!

 

Q: What exactly does my family receive at the Sogexpress branch?

A: Your family will receive (1) solar light kit, (2) two year warranty card and a (3) receipt. Sogexpress staff will open the box, take the lights out of the box and show your family how to charge and use the solar light kit. Sogexpress staff will also explain how to use the warranty card.

 

Q: Can my family in Haiti return the solar light kit?

A: This solar light kit order and purchase is non-refundable. Once you pay for the solar light kit, neither you nor your family in Haiti are able to return it. Remind your family that if they do have a problem with their solar light kit, they can use the warranty card to have Sogexpress staff resolve their problems.

Solar Light Kit Warranty

Q: How long does the warranty last?

A: All T-Light solar light kits are covered by a TWO-YEAR warranty by our product supplier, Awango by Total. The warranty starts on the day that your family picks up the solar light kit from Sogexpress. Sogexpress staff will explain this information to your family when they pick up their solar light kits. Remind your relatives to ask about this warranty and keep their warranty cards!

 

Q: What if the solar light kit doesn’t work properly?

A: If your family is having trouble, they can go to any Sogexpress branch with (1) the entire solar light kit, (2) the warranty card and (3) the receipt for customer service help. Your family can also call Sogexpress customer service at +509 3740-4253.
